No more tonsils...

As of yesterday, I have no tonsils...
The up-side to this is 2 weeks off work, 2 weeks away from crowds / shopping centres / supermarkets, 2 weeks of rest & recouperation, 2 weeks of having to stay at home & quilt & make dolls & clothes... Undisturbed...
The slightly sore, post-surgery throat is just about worth it.

Quilt top

It's taken a while, but I think this top is done. It was a project I started some time ago, then gave up on for a while. My sweetheart insisted that as it's Mother's Day, I should spend time doing something I love, so I pulled it out & put the last border on it. It's resting on a queen-size bed.
Now for batting, backing & hand quilting...

way, way back, there was a creative challenge...

I am completely slack & haven't put these up before. Sorry Sam, only ... 4? months late...
I had this lovely photo of watermelon slices & the colour magenta as my inspiration.

These are part of my finished creations... placemats.

I wanted to make them each a little different, the backs are all the swirly magenta fabric, so they could all match.
When I go visit my little niece, I'll to get a photo of the watermelon slice bag I made for her. I totally forgot before I let her take it home. It's the red with white dots on one side & pale pink on the other.

Fat 1/4 swap

From Bec. [Thanks, Bec!!!]

Little niece's quilt

The layout for a baby quilt for my next little niece [due just after Easter].

Bit of a splurge...

I love a good bolt-end. There are several beautiful 1m pieces in this bundle.
No plans for most of it yet, but who needs a reason... "Stash building" is a reason.

Pincushion swap part 3

A pincushion for Moomoo, across the sea in England.

Acacia podalrifolia, the Mt Morgan wattle [rounded silvery leaves] & Acacia fimbriata, the Brisbane wattle [narrow dark green leaves], are my two favourite small trees. I have several of each in my garden.

Paperbag swap part 3

The fabric & notions from Glenys, made up by me into pincushion, needlebook & basket, then delivered to Kitty-Kat. I loved this fabric!

Paperbag swap part 2

I haven't been here for a few days. Anyway, this is the sweet bag sent to me by Duchess in the Paper Bag swap. It has my on-the-go embroidery things in it.

Paper Bag Swap part 1

Look! The lovely cushion cover Kim made me from the bits & pieces I sent her in the Paper Bag Swap. She suggested it could also be a wallhanging, which is how I think I shall display it. It's just gorgeous!

My assistant helps out...

another bag...

From the quilt offcuts.

It looks like the patches are meant to match up, but they weren't really. It's a little less-random than hoped for, but I love it anyway.
I really like the light blue fabric that I used to line it. Not that it shows up terribly well in the picture. The cream & dark blue colourways of the same print make the strap & base, but the lining is my favourite.

last week...

I made a little bag for my mum. She carries her sunglasses & mail in it.

Both sides...

Today...

Testing the pattern I drafted for my little niece.
Fabric is a bolt end picked up for about 50c. Nice soft cotton though.

A nice morning's creating...

I present ...ta da!... Desert Dilly

A cute little dillybag for carrying stuff. It has long straps to go over the shoulder & a little strap wraps around the shoulder straps to keep Desert Dilly closed.
